Mongolia became beneficiary of the “Inclusive Insurance Innovation Lab” project along with three other selected countries including Kenya, Ghana and Albania. The project is co-implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Global Leadership Academy (GLA), and Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii) that brings together a broad range of inclusive insurance stakeholders to build innovative solutions on how to increase uptake of good quality insurance by vulnerable people and businesses.

The project was officially launched on 28 November in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The launch was attended by FRC delegates, project consultants and representatives from Mongolia’s insurance sector. On this occasion, Dr. Davaasuren Sodnomdarjaa, Chairman of the FRC conveyed her welcoming remarks to attendees and guests which was addressed by Enkhbaatar V., Director of Foreign Relations and Cooperation Department of the FRC.

In her welcoming remarks, while extending her cordial appreciation to the GIZ and A2ii for selecting Mongolia as a beneficiary of the project Dr. Davaasuren emphasized the importance of improving inclusive insurance in Mongolia by developing products and services low and middle income people and SMEs as well as supporting the insurance companies and expanding their distribution channels.  

On this note, she also encouraged the Mongolian National Team to actively engage in dialogues and share experiences and insights, and learn from best practices of participating countries during the 12-month implementing period, and thus make a valuable contribution to developing a more inclusive insurance sector in Mongolia.  

The project aims to establish a supportive regulatory framework that fosters innovative solutions in efforts to promote the development of inclusive insurance sector. Upon completion of the project, it is expected to have reached concrete solutions for a range of issues and advancements such as improved access to inclusive insurance products and services, launch of distribution channels based on innovative solutions, and a more favorable government regulation on inclusive insurance are expected to be delivered.

The first official meeting was attended by Mr. Yiannis Chrysostomidis and Mr. Oscar Verlinden, the international consultants of A2ii, who will lead the Mongolian National Team providing consultancy and methodology for implementing the project.
